Executive: Expanded US sanctions not to influence Gazprom
BERLIN, Jun 15 (PRIME) -- Restrictions of terms of Russian energy companies crediting implied by new U.S. sanctions, will not influence gas giant Gazprom, as the company aims at long-term investment, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee Alexander Medvedev said on Thursday.
“The reduction of financing terms from 90 days… makes not a blind bit of difference to us. We do not need money for 90 days, we have payback periods lasting for decades,” he said.
The U.S. Senate approved an amendment extending the sanctions against Russia late on Wednesday. The sanctions against banks restrict the term of loans to 14 days, reducing the term from 90 days earlier. The sanctions against energy companies limit the term of financing or other deals to 30 days.
Medvedev also said that his company is in talks on gas supplies to India and possible swap operations with China and Iran.
